The Mountaineers picked up a run in the seventh to get it to 6-4, but Skidmore posted three runs in the eighth on a Rubenstein RBI single and a pair of bases-loaded walks by Kreitenberg and Mike Pannozzi  to extend the lead to 9-4.

Southern Vermont scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth but Forman caught the final batter looking to secure the 9-6 win for the Thoroughbreds.
