#3 Kean Tops Richard Stockton, 6-1

Pomona, N.J. (4/16/11) – The Kean University baseball team picked up their 25th win of the season as they defeated Richard Stockton College, 6-1, Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.

Game two of today's scheduled doubleheader was rained out after one inning of action.  The two teams will square off from the beginning on Sunday at 1 p.m.

After falling behind 1-0, the Cougars rallied for four runs in the fourth inning.  Junior Lee Cavico got things going with a one out double.  Two batters later, senior Nick Nolan tied things up with an RBI single.  Two batters later with the bases loaded, junior Eddie Jennings reached on an error that allowed the bases to clear giving Kean a 4-1 advantage.  The Cougars (25-4, 8-1 NJAC) then added two more in the sixth as Cavico and senior Ken Gregory recorded RBI singles in the frame.

Cavico was 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI while senior Chris Carrano was 3-for-5 with a run scored. 

On the mound junior Mike Russo earned the win with seven and two thirds innings of work.  Russo (6-0) allowed one run, it was unearned, and five hits.  He also walked five and struck out four.  Sophomore Greg Baruka finished the game allowing just two hits along the way.
