CLAREMONT, Calif. - Cal Lutheran completed a season sweep of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps winning the fourth meeting this year by a 12-4 margin on Friday afternoon. The Kingsmen defense turned three double plays in the first five innings while Trevor Koons' five-RBI day aided the offense.

After having gone only four innings in each of his past three starts CLU starting pitcher John LaMoure went seven frames against CMS. The first of two runs surrendered was unearned after a leadoff error in the second allowed the Stags to open the scoring.
Cal Lutheran's offense more than made up for it scoring runs in six of the final seven innings. The main culprit was Trevor Koons who connected for one of his two big hits in the fourth inning. A two-out, two-run double by Koons gave CLU a 3-1 lead which it held to the end.
Teammate Danny Gallinot had a two-run double of his own in the fifth highlighting a four-run fifth inning to put the game out of reach for good.
Each would connect for their second base hit of the game in the ninth inning with Gallinot a one-out single and Koons a two-out, three-run blast putting the CLU offense into double-digits for the fourth straight time.
Cal Lutheran bashed 15 hits against Stags pitching including seven for extra bases. Six different Kingsmen had a double while Nicholas DellaValle led all players going 3-for-5 at the plate.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps had only 2-of-10 hits go for extra bases. One of those for the Stags was a solo home run by Scott Witte who finished 2-for-5 on the day.
CLU has now won seven straight of CMS dating back to last season by winning the final three meetings during the 2010 campaign.
Cal Lutheran (20-13, 14-7 SCIAC) will host Redlands (23-8, 17-5 SCIAC) on Saturday, Apr. 16 at 1 p.m.
