Union, N.J. (4/22/11) – Junior Mike Russo tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout to lead the #3 Kean University baseball to a 3-0 victory over #23 Rowan University on Friday afternoon in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.

Russo (7-0) took a no-hitter into the eighth inning with one out before junior Marc Magliaro hit a ball through the right side for the Profs (21-8-1, 9-3 NJAC) only hit of the afternoon.

The Cougars (27-5, 10-2 NJAC) got the only run they would need in the bottom of the third as sophomore Nick Ramagli led off the inning with a walk.  Sandwiched around an out, he proceeded to swipe both second and third and would score on a squeeze bunt by rookie Tyler Smarslok.

Kean would add two more in their half of the seventh as seniors Kyle Walker and Nick Nolan recorded back-to-back singles to start the inning.  Ramagli then singled up the middle to drive in one before catcher Eddie Jennings pushed a bunt up the line for a base hit and RBI, driving in the final run of the afternoon.

Southpaw Curtis Arsi suffered the loss for the Profs.  Arsi (5-3) allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings of work.  He also walked three and struck out four.

The Cougars are slated to return to NJAC action on Saturday when they matchup against Rutgers-Newark at Jim Hynes Stadium at 11:30 a.m.
