Adrian Wins a Pair of 7-1 Games versus Albion

ADRIAN, Mich. - The baseball team kept the Briton bats off balance all night as Adrian improved to 26-6 overall and 19-1 in the MIAA with a pair of 7-1 wins over Albion on Thursday (Apr. 28). The Bulldogs have stretched their winning streak to 14 games and put a strangehold on their third straight MIAA title.

Adrian's dynamic pitching duo of seniors Ryan Domschot and David Partyka helped put the Bulldogs into the driver's seat with just eight more conference games to play. Adrian has a seven-game lead on second place Calvin and swept the Knights earlier this season.

Domschot threw a complete-game three-hitter in game one to improve to 5-2 this season. He gave up one earned run in the fourth inning and walked three with four strikeouts. He threw 103 pitches and lowered his season ERA to 2.10. Brian Bilius went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles as Adrian had seven hits in game one. The bottom of the order came through with four hits. Andrew DeLuca had an RBI double in the second inning and also stole his 15th base in the game. Michael Herzog had his first triple of the season in the sixth inning and also scored in the frame. Nate Clark and Kyle Strawn also had RBI's for the Bulldogs.

Partyka improved to 7-1 in game two allowing five hits in a complete-game victory. He tossed just 85 pitches and lowered his season ERA to 2.04 with just one walk and three strikeouts. DeLuca had another RBI double in the fifth inning and also drew a walk in the leadoff spot. Bilius drew a career-high three walks and scored a run and also had a career-high eight assists at third base.

Herzog went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and raised his season average to .433. Jake Cappelletty went 2-for-4 with his 11th double of the season and is hitting .412 during his senior year. Chris Kerekes, R.J. Rios and Joe Dubina also had an RBI in the nightcap. The Bulldogs will play two more against the Britons tomorrow in Albion beginning at 2:00 PM.
