The OAC Regular Season crown is the 32nd in the program's storied history. Marietta, a record four-time national champion (1981, 1983, 1986, 2006), first won the OAC title in 1956 and last captured a share of the championship in 2007.

The Pioneers (31-3, 15-1 OAC) also earned the opportunity to host their first OAC Tournament since 2005. The four-team, double-elimination playoff will take place May 12-14 at Don Schaly Stadium. The winner of the OAC Tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional, which will be held May 18-22 in Marietta, Ohio.

Pitching was once again the story of the day as the nation's best staff held John Carroll (16-17, 9-7 OAC) to just one run on three hits over 16 innings. The Pioneers threw a two-hitter in game one before flirting with their second no-hitter of the year in game two.

Senior Mark Williams (Fayetteville/Perry) scattered just two hits and a walk while striking out seven over the first six innings to earn the game-one win and improve to 5-1. Sophomore Michael Mulvey (Glenshaw, Pa./North Catholic) worked a scoreless ninth to close out the victory.

Marietta's offense collected 12 hits and featured 4-for-4 performance from junior Kirby Becker (South Euclid/St. Ignatius). Sophomore Jordan Grilliot (Brookville/Northmont) and senior John Snyder (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) both added a pair of hits as the Pioneers' first three batters were a combined 8-for-10 with four RBI and six runs scored.

The Etta Express took control with a two-run first. John Carroll plated a run in the top of the third, before the Pioneers answered with three in the bottom of the frame. They then exploded for six in the sixth en route to the 11-1 win.

Junior Austin Blaski (Pandora/Gilboa) no-hit the Blue Streaks for the first six innings of the nightcap. The right-hander, who improved to 8-2, scattered two walks and struck out four. Sophomore Logan Lewis (Nashport/Tri-Valley) kept the no-hitter going with a perfect seventh, while classmate Luke Langdon (Troy/Troy) did the same in the eighth. John Carroll finally broke up the no-hit bid with a leadoff single through the right side against junior closer Kyle Lindquist (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) in the ninth, but he retired the next three hitters to preserve the shutout win.

Marietta scored runs in its first three at-bats, one in the first, two in the second and five in the third. The Pioneers then added a run if the fifth and two in the seventh to roll to the 11-0 victory.

Junior Tim Saunders (Alliance/Alliance) and sophomore Aaron Hopper (Wheelersburg/Wheelersburg) both finished with three hits and combined for five runs scored in game two.

Marietta wraps up OAC play at 11 a.m. Friday (May 6) when Wilmington College hosts the Pioneers in a doubleheader at Athletes in Action Stadium in Xenia, Ohio.
