WAIPAHU, Hawaii – Hawaii Pacific used a solid hitting performance from Easton Torigoe in the opener and a lockdown pitching performance from Michael Murray in the nightcap to take both ends of a baseball doubleheader from Pacific Saturday at Hans L'Orange Park.
 
Torigoe went 2 for 4 with three runs batted in, including batting in the go-ahead run in the fifth to lead the Sea Warriors to a 7-4 victory in game one.  Greg Tellez (Sr., White Salmon, Wash.) had three of the Boxers' seven hits in the game.  In the second game, Murray threw a complete game two-hitter as the Sea Warriors allowed just one unearned run in a 5-1 victory.
 
Kevin Schwartz (Sr., Milwaukie, Ore.) also finished with three hits for the Boxers, coming up with a pair in the opener and a triple that scored Pacific's only run in the second game.
 
Hawaii Pacific, NCAA Division II members of the Pacific West Conference, improved to 6-0 on the season.  Pacific dropped to 1-5 on their season-opening Hawaii road trip.
 
GAME 1 – HAWAII PACIFIC 7, PACIFIC 4
The Boxers and Sea Warriors traded runs in the first inning before the Hawaii Pacific took the 2-1 lead in the second when Wade Tamaru's single scored Jace Poole from the second base.  Pacific tied it in the third when Schwartz led off with a double and scored on a double by Tellez.
 
Rylan Morihara accounted for the go-ahead run in the fifth when he knocked a one-out single and scored on Torigoe's single up the middle.  The Sea Warriors added two in the sixth when Inamasu scored on a balk and Morihara singled home Tamaru.  Torigoe scored an insurance run in the seventh when he singled and scored on a sacrifice fly.  Derek Nakasato did the same in the eighth when he singled to lead off the inning and scored on a sacrifice fly.
 
Nate Rasmussen (Sr., Sandy, Utah) added a run for Pacific in the seventh when he singled and scored on a double play ball.  Jordan Siu (Jr., Redmond, Wash.) accounted for the Boxers' eighth inning run when he scored on a bases loaded walk.
 
Cory Yuh earned his second win of the season for Hawaii Pacific, allowing three runs on seven hits with four walks and five strikeouts in seven innings of work.  Edward Trovato earned his first save of the season, working a perfect ninth inning.  Quin Moore (So., Bellingham, Wash.) took his first loss of the season, allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and a strikeout in five innings.  In addition to Tellez's three hits, Schwartz went 2 for 3 for the Boxers.
 
GAME 2 – HAWAII PACIFIC 5, PACIFIC 1
Sea Warriors' ace Michael Murray gave Pacific little chance to get any offense going, allowing just two hits in the complete game 7-inning victory.  Murray gave up a hit to Chad Fahey (Sr., Keizer, Ore.) in the second and a RBI triple to Schwartz in the sixth, which scored an unearned run.
 
Hawaii Pacific opened scoring with two runs in the second.  Kale Sumner led off with a bunt single, then scored from first when Justin Winters ripped a double to left center field.  Winters scored two batters later when Tamaru singled through the right side.
 
Tamaru opened the Sea Warriors' three-run fifth by being hit by a pitch and scoring a triple down the right field line by Morihara.  Blake Amaral followed with a RBI single that scored Morihara and Torigoe added another with his triple down the line.
 
Therone Bridges (So., Vancouver, Wash.) accounted for the Boxers' lone run when he reached in the sixth on an error and scored on a long triple down the right field line by Schwartz.
Kyle Treadway (Fr., Phoenix, Ore.) took the loss for the Boxers in his first collegiate outing, allowing five runs on eight hits with three strikeouts in five innings of work.
 
Pacific will wrap up its seven-game Hawaii trip tomorrow afternoon with the final game of their series with Hawaii Pacific.  First pitch is scheduled for noon (HST).
