Bridgewater HC Kendall gets career win no. 600

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College head baseball coach Curt Kendall picked up career win No. 600 Wednesday afternoon as the Eagles blanked Mary Washington 3-0.

Kendall now has a career record of 600-386-8 to rank No. 18 in career victories among active Division III coaches. He ranks No. 34 all-time in wins in Division III.

The BC pitching staff turned in another dominant performance as the team improved to 5-1 on the season. Bridgewater entered Tuesday's game with a 0.77 ERA and that dropped to 0.64 following a dominant performance by senior Kevin Chandler.

Chandler went the distance for the Eagles, giving up four hits - all singles. He struck out four and walked one.

The Bridgewater defense also continued its stellar play. The Eagles entered the game with a .981 fielding percentage and played errorless ball on Tuesday.

Bridgewater got on the board in the third when Jonathan Mason was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a groundout. Andrew Hacker then singled up the middle to plate Mason, giving BC a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles added another run in the fourth. Bryan Sanderson singled and took second on a balk. Devon Snow walked and Mason was safe on a fielder's choice to load the sacks. Sanderson scored on an infield error for a 2-0 BC lead.

Bridgewater added its final run in the eighth. With one out, Darren Yoder walked and then stole second and third. Yoder scored on a single by Sanderson to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

Sanderson led the Eagles at the plate with a 3-for-5 day. Snow and Hacker added two hits each as Bridgewater finished with nine hits. Chris King had two of Mary Washington's four hits.

With the loss, Mary Washington drops to 1-3-1 on the season.
