CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College baseball team scored two runs in the eighth inning to help fuel their 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon at Frierson Field.  After being shutout in the first game, the Choctaws won the next two to eventually take the series, 2-1.

Neither team scored until the seventh inning when Hardin Simmons shortstop Marcus Uetchi singled through the right side to give the Cowboys a 1-0 lead.

But the Choctaws responded in the bottom half of the eighth with back-to-back singles from Jeremy Simmons and Mike Kerdock to lead off the inning.

Brett Hightower then singled into right-center to bring home Simmons for the the Choctaws' first run.  The Choctaws  would  eventually load the bases with an intentional walk to Rob Thames before walking in Kerdcock, the go-ahead run.

And that was all the run support MC pitcher Bo Craig (1-1) would need working a perfect ninth to earn the win for the Choctaws.

Kenneth Atwood started the game for the Choctaws giving up three hits in 4.2 innings of work.  Scott Trousdale worked 2.1 innings in relief giving up one hit and one unearned run.

James Simmons (0-1) was credited with the loss for Hardin-Simmons.
