No. 22 Thomas More Defeats Mount Aloysius, 10-3, at Central Florida Invite

(AUBURNDALE, Fla.) - The 22nd-ranked Thomas More College baseball team defeated Mount Aloysius College, 10-3, today (Wednesday, March 7, 2012) on the third day of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, Florida.

With the win, the Saints improve to 2-1 on the season.  With the loss, Mounties fall to 2-6 on the season. 

Thomas More scored two in the fifth, three in the sixth, two in the seventh and three in the eighth inning, while Mount Aloysius plated its three runs in the seventh.

Junior Mike Hager (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) earned the win on the mound as he took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but finished the game pitching six plus innings giving up three runs (all earned) on three hits and striking out two.

Sophomore third baseman Tyler Graber (Plain City, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) led the team at the plate as he was three-for-five with a double.  Five other Saints had multiple hits in the game as junior shortstop David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) was two-for-five with triple and  two runs batted-in, freshman outfielder Nick Connor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-six, sophomore second baseman Jason Handley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was two-for-five with a triple, junior designated hitter Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) was two-for-four with a double and senior catcher Andrew Clements (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) was two-for-five with a double.

The Saints return to action tomorrow when they play Penn State University-Altoona in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at Webber International University's Field in Babson Park, Florida.
