Baseball evens season record with 7-2 win over Merchant Marine (N.Y.)

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Polar Bear baseball team overcame an early 2-0 deficit to come back and win 7-2 over Merchant Marine (N.Y.) on Thursday morning at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.

Northern posts its third straight win to even its record at 3-3, while the Mariners fall to 1-4 overall.

Senior pitcher Justin Good worked through a couple of long early innings to get the win and junior closer Shane Parks came in to strike out the only hitter he faced with the bases loaded in the ninth to get his first save of the year.  

Sophomore Tyler Deitering had a breakout game, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Freshman Dan Belliveau had three hits, and junior Cory Martin and sophomore Brian Thomas had two hits each.

Ohio Northern continues its spring trip tomorrow morning with a 9 a.m. game against Wheaton (Ill.).
