ASHLAND, Va. - The No. 23/RV Shenandoah University baseball team earned its fifth straight victory Friday afternoon with an 11-3 win over future ODAC rival Randolph-Macon.

For the second straight day, SU (10-4) registered double-digit hits.

This time, paced by a school-record-tying six hits by senior Jake Pendergraft, the Hornets had 18 hits in downing R-MC (4-7-2).

Pendergraft, who finished 6 for 6 with three RBI, ties the record that classmate Cory Nelson set against St. Joseph's (L.I.) on March 25, 2010.

Pendergraft was one of five players in the SU lineup with multiple hits - Joey Donofrio was 3 for 6 and Tucker Brown, Greg Beran and Mike Minch all registered two hits each.

After falling behind 1-0 in the second, Shenandoah scored one in the fourth, another in the fifth and four in the sixth to break open the contest.

The Hornets completed their day with a five-run eighth.

Junior Nicholas McMahon (1-0) allowed three runs on nine hits in 8.0 innings to earn the victory in his first career start.

Senior Bryce Sears worked a scoreless ninth to close out the contest.

The winning run scored in the sixth as Minch singled to right to score Brown. The ball was booted on the play, allowing Dan Powers to score with what proved to be the game-winning run.

Shenandoah continues this weekend road trip with games at N.C. Wesleyan Saturday and Sunday.
