Baseball Receives Top 25 Votes for First Time

More news about: Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Winners of its last 11 games and owners of a 12-1 record this season, the Washington College baseball team is receiving Top 25 votes for the first time ever. The Shoremen received a total of 12 vote-points in this week's D3Baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) Top 25.

The Shoremen's only loss of the season came against Salisbury, currently ranked seventh in the poll. Washington also owns a victory over Neumann, which debuted in this week's poll ranked 25th.

The Shoremen's 12-1 start is their first 12-1 start to a season since 1938 and just their third 12-1 start in team history.  A win today at St. Mary's College of Maryland would run the Shoremen's win streak to 12 games, tying it for the longest win streak in team history. The 1937 team won 12 straight games to open the season and the 1897 team went a perfect 12-0. Washington College baseball results date back to 1871.

First pitch at St. Mary's today is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
