DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College scored eight runs in the third inning, en route to a 13-8, non-conference victory over visiting Ursinus College.

It was the home opener for the Aggies as they improved to 7-5 on the season. They will host DeSales University on Friday, March 23 (3:30 p.m.) to start a three-game, Freedom Conference series with the Bulldogs (the scene will shift to DeSales for a doubleheader on Saturday).

Ursinus (6-8) tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third as a Josh Schnell single was misplayed in the outfield for an error and it allowed Lou Argentine to score on the play.

However, Delaware Valley responded in its half of the stanza by sending 12 batters to the plate and registering eight runs on seven hits. The first nine batters reached base thanks to six singles, a triple, a walk and a hit batsman. Jeff Sennett gave the Aggies the lead for good with a two-run single and Pete O'Hara added the big blow later in the inning with a three-run triple.

Delaware Valley padded its lead in the fifth as Brandon Bell and O'Hara notched back-to-back singles and both came around to score on a two-run single by Cory Weingart. The Aggies made it 13-2 in the seventh as O'Hara singled, moved to second on a wild pitch and crossed home plate on an RBI single by Dan Hrubos.

Ursinus picked up six runs on five hits in the ninth inning, including two-run singles by Kevin Wilson and Vince Rondolone. Its first run of the game came on an RBI double by Joel Ackerman in the second inning. Delaware Valley plated two in its half of the second thanks to a balk and an RBI single by Mike Otstot.
