AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team tallied five runs on Wednesday afternoon as the sixth-ranked Pointers handed the 24th-ranked Road Runners of Ramapo College a 5-2 defeat at Lake Myrtle Field.

After getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the first, the Pointers bats brought in the games first runs in the second, as a Ryan Schilter (West Bend, WI/West) doubled to lead off the inning and came around to score on a Bryan Clark (Oshkosh, WI/North) double. Bobby Gregorich (Plover, WI/SPASH) doubled later in the inning to drive in Clark.

The Pointers added another run in the third when Justin Jirschele (Clintonville, WI/Clintonville) scored on another Schilter double. Runs also came across in both the fourth and fifth innings thanks to RBIs from Dan Douglas (East Troy, WI/East Troy) and Clark.

JP Feyereisen (River Falls, WI/River Falls) secured the victory, his first of the season, throwing four solid innings in relief of starter Zach Wendorf (Merrill, WI/Merrill). Brad Stroik (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) finished the final five innings, allowing just three hits and recorded three strikeouts.

Ramapo (10-1) pitcher Walker Larson suffered the loss, his first of the appearance, allowing five runs, four earned, in 4.2 innings of work.

No. 6 UW-Stevens Point (6-1) returns to action on Thursday, March 22 with a pair of in-region games against St. Olaf College in Auburndale, Fla. First pitch is set for Noon eastern. Live stats will be available for both games.
