Franklin comes back to defeat Wabash

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Grizzlies defeated the visiting Little Giants of Wabash College 8-7 in a single nine-inning baseball game at John P. McDowell Field today.

Franklin College captured its seventh straight victory, improving to 12-2 overall, while the Little Giants fell to 8-9.

The Grizzlies, who trailed by as many as three runs, were down 7-6 entering the seventh inning when junior Zach Osowski and sophomore designated hitter Rickey DuBois led off the frame with back-to-back doubles to tie the game.

Senior outfielder Kevin Entwistle drove in the game winning run with a clutch single to put the Grizzlies up 8-7.

Sophomore outfielder Scott Windler was 3 of 3 at the plate and drove in four runs. Freshman Mitch Frey went 1 for 2 with three walks while collecting two RBIs.

Freshman Jacob Burns picked up his first collegiate win with two innings of hitless relief. Senior Shawn Mattingly pitched the ninth to earn the first save of his career.

Wabash trailed 4-1 going into the fourth inning, but rallied with six runs that frame, which was highlighted by first baseman John Holm's long three-run homer

The Grizzlies begin conference play with the College of Mount St. Joseph this Friday at the University of Cincinnati beginning at 4 p.m.
