Fiore has four-hit day to lead McDaniel to 10th straight

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – McDaniel scored 11 runs over the first three innings en route to a season-high offensive output and a 15-8 non-conference baseball victory over Penn State-Harrisburg on Friday.

Joe Fiore (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Beach) recorded a 4-for-5 day with two RBIs and a run scored to lead the Green Terror (11-3), who extended its program-best winning streak to 10 straight games.

Dalton Trolinger and Matt Soden rapped out three hits apiece for the Lions (4-14), who plated five runs in the bottom of the first inning for an early 5-3 advantage.

Trailing 5-3, Joe Fiore led off the second inning with a single before a Brandon Hayward (Salisbury, Md./J.M. Bennett) followed with a walk to put runners at first and second.

Patrick Christopher (Union Beach, N.J./St. John Vianney) knotted the game at 5-all with a triple before scoring on a Drew Phillips (Sherwood, Md./St. Michael's) single one batter later.

Ricky LaSota (Burtonsville, Md./Paint Branch) was hit by a pitch and James Chiorello (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) walked to load the bases for Marshall Betts (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur), who singled in Phillips for a 7-5 lead.

Chiorello scored on a one-out wild pitch to stretch the lead to 8-5 before a Fiore sacrifice fly scored Betts for the sixth run of the frame.

A Christopher walk, stolen base and Phillips walk put runners at first and second to lead off the third before a Chiorello single scored Christopher.

Betts and Jimmy Najera (Fort Washington, Md./DeMatha) drew back-to-back walks to force home Phillips for an 11-5 advantage.

An Isaac Polinsky leadoff double and Daniel Samick one-out single gave Penn State-Harrisburg a single run in the fifth.

Chiorello led off the seventh with a double before taking third on a groundout and scoring on a Najera sacrifice fly.

Chris Longo (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) followed with a single and took second on a fielding error.

A Fiore single scored Longo for a 13-3 advantage.

Garret Nemser (Hartsdale, N.Y./Edgemont) led of the eighth with a single before a Phillips walk and wild pitch put runners at second and third.

LaSota followed with a single to score Nemser before Phillips came home on a Chiorello sacrifice fly.

Back-to-back errors to lead off the bottom of the ninth coupled with a Dean Kanganis RBI groundout and Cody Henry run-producing single set the final margin.

In the top of the first, Phillips was hit by a one-out pitch before a LaSota single and fielder's choice put runners at the corners with two outs.

Betts followed with a single to score Phillips and Najera rapped a single down the left-field line to score Chiorello and Betts for a 3-0 lead.

The first of six errors to lead off the bottom of the first opened the gates for five runs.

Trolinger was hit by a pitch before a Colton Houseal bunt single and throwing error scored a run at put runners at the corners.

After Houseal stole second, Jeff Bell drew a one-out walk to load the bases for Samick, who singled in a pair of runs to tie the game.

Soden followed with an RBI single and John Cataldo plated Samick with a groundout.

Andrew Monger (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) picked up the win with six strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of relief, improving to 3-0 on the mound.

Christopher, Chiorello and Betts each had two hits and two RBIs.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Penn State-York on Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 12:30 p.m.
