TIFFIN, Ohio—After dropping the first two games of a three-game series, Case Western Reserve University defeated the Heidelberg University baseball team, 9-4, today at Nobby's Ballpark in University Circle. Despite the loss, the Student Princes have won four of their last games.

The Berg (10-8) wasted little time in taking a 3-0 lead. A bases loaded single by senior center fielder Elvin Williams (Euclid) in the top of the first inning brought around two runs and an infield single by freshman designated hitter Trevor Oldham (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) scored another.

The Spartans (12-9) answered with a pair runs in the bottom half of the inning, Jordan Dague doubled home two more in the second, and CWRU tallied runs in the third, fourth and fifth for a 7-3 lead.

In the sixth, Williams tripled and Oldham scored Williams with a ground ball to the right side, cutting the deficit to 7-4.

CWRU scored two insurance runs in the seventh.

Williams finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run. Senior shortstop Ricardo Lizcano (Toledo/Start) was 2-for-4 with a run and collected his sixth double of the season.

Freshman right handed pitcher Bryan Peters (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) surrendered five runs on eight hits and struck out three batters over 2.1 innings and was saddled with the loss to fall to 0-1. Junior righty Teddy Lowe (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) worked 1.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit and fanning two. Freshman righty Dylan Cooper (Macomb, Mich./Stevenson) pitched the final four frames, giving up three runs on four hits.

Five Spartans recorded multiple hits, led by Matt Keen's double and home run and Peter Zak's pair of two-baggers. Both had two RBI.

Starting pitcher Jamie Hora scattered six hits and allowed four runs over eight innings and fanned nine batters. Jose Vega closed the game in the ninth.

Heidelberg next plays Tuesday, March 27 as it hosts Adrian (Mich.) College in its final non-conference game before the Ohio Athletic Conference slate begins Saturday. Game time from Peaceful Valley is slated for 4 p.m.
