DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Nate Peiffer's RBI double in the top of the eighth inning proved to be the difference as Albright College edged host Delaware Valley College, 6-5, in a non-conference game.

The Lions (7-13) jumped out to a 5-0 lead with two runs in the second inning, two in the third and one in the fifth. Patrick Makowski had a two-run double in the second while Dylan Boll drove in a run in both the third (double) and fifth (sacrifice fly) stanzas.

Delaware Valley (7-10) made it a one-run ballgame by scoring four runs on two hits and two Albright errors in the bottom of the fifth inning. After a miscue allowed the first run to score, Jake Barben notched a run-scoring single. Cory Weingart's ground out brought home the inning's third tally while another error allowed a fourth run to score.

The Aggies then tied the game in the bottom of the seventh as Barben drew a leadoff walk, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Weingart and crossed home plate when Mike Otstot doubled down the left field line.

However, Albright countered in the eighth as Max Dundore drew a one-out walk. Peiffer stepped to the plate and he drilled a double to left field and Dundore raced around the bases for the eventual game-winning run. Delaware Valley put one on in the eighth, but failed to score. The Aggies then went in order in the ninth to end the game.

Peiffer was 3-for-5 with the big RBI. Boll and Makowski each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Doug Mace picked up the win in relief while Jared Neiheiser pitched the final two innings for his first save of the year.

Barben was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Jeff Sennett was the lone Aggie to have a multiple-hit game as he was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jordan Heisler
