DePauw scored all 13 of its runs in the first four innings and the Tigers took a 13-6 win at Piedmont.
The win was DePauw's seventh straight and 11th in the last 12 games as the Tigers, ranked 18th in the coaches' poll and 21st by D3baseball.com, improved to 19-3 and matched last year's wins total. Piedmont, ranked sixth by D3baseball.com and eighth in the coaches' poll, dropped to 19-7 with the loss.
DePauw scored six in the first as J.B. McCallum led off by being hit by a pitch and moved to third when Zach Galyean reached on an error. Rob McPike's single scored McCallum before Alex Wright's ground out plated Galyean and Robbie Stein's single scored McPike. After Brendon Pashia's double, Sam Swafford drove in two with a single before Pat Lyons scored Swafford with a base hit.
Piedmont countered with three in the bottom of the first as Kyle Davis walked and Josh Bailey singled. Curtis Cornett's bunt advanced both runners a base and a wild pitch allowed David to score. Chris Lew was hit by a pitch and Tim Nunez walked to load the bases. Ethan Miers then drove in two with a single to cut DePauw's lead to 6-3.
The Tigers added four more in the second after Galyean singled and scored on Jason Cohen's base hit. Cohen crossed the plate when Stein reached on a fielder's choice before Wright scored on a passed ball and Stein came home on Swafford's single.
Wright's bases loaded fielder's choice scored McCallum in the third and McPike drove in two in the fourth with a single to make it 13-3.
Bailey's grounder scored Matt Youtsey in the sixth and Cornett's single plated Davis to cut the Tigers' lead to 13-5. Nunez led off the ninth with a single and moved to second when Miers reached on walk. Nunez went to third on a fly out and scored on a balk.
DePauw totaled 14 hits led by Galyean and Pike with three each and two apiece from Pashia and Swafford. Bailey had three of Piedmont's 13 hits with Lew, Miers and Tate Koons each finishing with two.
J.T. Timmer improved to 1-0 with the relief win, while Max Oberkofler dropped to 1-1.
