TIFFIN, Ohio—Senior shortstop Ricardo Lizcano (Toledo/Start) homered twice and tied the Heidelberg University school career home run record as the Student Princes swept Wilmington College at Peaceful Valley in Tiffin, Ohio in a doubleheader in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both teams. Junior righty Tyler Fruhwirth (Beavercreek) hurled a shutout to win the first game, 7-0, and the Berg followed with a 5-1 victory in the night cap.

Lizcano matches Aaron Fischer (1996-2000) for the school's career home run record with 31.

Fruhwirth (Beavercreek) faced just 23 batters, allowing seven hits while striking out four and walking none and faced the minimum three batters in five of seven innings and did not allow a runner past second base.

The Student Princes (13-8) scored twice in the bottom of the second inning and tacked on five more in the third on Lizcano's two-run home run and three consecutive singles.

Lizcano finished the game 2-for-3. Senior center fielder Elvin Williams (Euclid) was 2-for-3 with two runs and freshman third baseman Trevor Oldham (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run.

Jared Ramsey started for Wilmington (3-12) and pitched the first 4.2 innings, surrendering six hits and striking out four while walking five. Dan Conroy recorded the last four outs for the Quakers.

Lizcano broke a 1-1 as he led off the fifth inning with a home run, his third straight game with a long ball and his fifth of the season.

In the seventh inning, a RBI single by sophomore right fielder Arneal Squibb (Mishakawa, Ind./Mishakawa) and a bases loaded hit-by-pitch by senior left fielder Ross Pruitt (Elletsville, Ind./Edgewood) and a walk by Lizcano anchored a three-run inning.

Freshman first baseman Eric Monroe (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) was 3-for-5 at the plate with a run and Williams, sophomore backstop Jordan Martin (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and Squibb each rapped out a pair of hits. Lizcano had a pair of RBI. Williams and Oldham both extended their hitting streaks to a team-high 11 games.

Sophomore Chris Thomas (Canton/Perry) allowed eight hits and struck out three over 7.0 innings and earned the win to improve to 2-2. In a non-save opportunity, senior right hander Daniel Brannum (Jamestown/Greeneview) worked the eighth and ninth innings, surrendering just one hit.

Austin Newman was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run scored for Wilmington.

Jake Vinkovich started and pitched the first 4.0 innings, giving up two runs on six hits while striking out and walking four. Troy Wagner worked 2.2 innings in relief, allowing three runs (none earned) on six hits and Hunter Justus recorded the final four hits.
