The Pioneers spoiled Kremer's career day by jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first and breaking it open with three more in the third. The Transylvania cushion would climb to 9-0 in the fourth, before Defiance could get the bats going.

The Jackets scored in five of the final six frames and rapped out 13 hits in the contest, including five extra-base hits but could not keep pace with the TU lineup in the series finale. Kremer did the majority of the damage and got things started with a solo home run over the left-center field fence in the fourth inning. The sophomore then split the right-center field gap for a triple in the sixth, before doubling to left center in the eighth and completing the cycle with a line drive single to right field in his final at bat.

Kremer's triple was his fourth in 19 games this season and moved the third baseman within one three-bagger of DC's single-season record and into fourth on the program's all-time triples list with seven for his young career.

Fellow sophomore, Darin Waterman, continued his torrid start to the year with four hits of his own, including his second home run of the season. The Celina, Ohio native scored twice and drove in a pair of runs, while pushing his team-leading batting average to .397.

Clint Hoskins and Nate White led DC on the bump, with each senior hurler turning in a scoreless outing out of the bullpen.

Defiance (7-12, 0-6 HCAC) will look to get back on track on Tuesday, when it welcomes Bluffton (9-12, 2-4 HCAC) to Rutter Field for a 4:00 pm start.
