BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - The Westminster College baseball team split a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader on Saturday at Geneva College. In game one, the Titans relied on the arm of senior pitcher Patrick Mulligan (Brookfield, OH / Brookefield) and the bat of classmate Tim Wiand (Pottstown, PA / Owen J. Roberts) as they dominated for a 15-5 win. Westminster lost 2-0 in the nightcap.

Westminster goes to 17-8 overall and 8-1 in the PAC, while the Golden Tornadoes dropped to 12-15 overall and 6-9 in the league.

In game one, Mulligan earned the win and goes to 4-1 on the year. Mulligan only gave up one run off two hits. He walked five batters and struck out eight, bringing his total to a team-high 33 strikeouts on the season.

The Titans, in game one, did most of their offensive damage in the first inning with seven runs, while capitalizing off of five Geneva errors. Senior Steve Perrotta (New Castle, PA / New Castle) scored the first run off a Geneva error. Two batters later, Wiand drove in two more runs with a single. Also earning an RBI in the inning was junior Tyler Robinson (Creston, PA / Norwayne).

Wiand led the offense with a game-high five RBIs and two runs scored, while going 4-for-4 at the plate. In the game, Wiand also hit his team-leading 10th double of the season.

Westminster was up 13-0 in the top of the fourth inning, before Geneva finally got on board in the second half of the inning with a score.

In the nightcap, Geneva scored twice off singles for the only runs of the game. Westminster senior pitcher Vince Iosue (Euclid, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) goes to 3-3 on the year. Iosue threw five innings and gave up two runs off six hits. He struck out four batters and walked five.

Westminster is back in action next Saturday, April 14, as they host Thomas More in a PAC doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
