DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Dan Fiorito and Chris Nardozzi knocked in two runs apiece and Michael Lyon pitched into the ninth inning as visiting Manhattanville College opened a three-game, Freedom Conference series with a 7-1 victory over Delaware Valley College.

The win improved the Valiants to 12-12 overall and 6-7 in the Freedom while the Aggies fell to 11-15 and 3-10. The series will shift to Manhattanville for a doubleheader on Saturday.

Fiorito and Nardozzi had the big blows in a four-run, second inning. The Valiants loaded the bases with one out and Fiorito chopped one high over the third baseman's head to bring in the first two runs of the game. After a fly out, Nardozzi drilled a ball off the right field fence for a two-run triple and a 4-0 advantage. Fiorito was 1-for-5 in the contest while Nardozzi finished 2-for-4.

That was more than enough for Lyon as he improved to 4-1 on the year. He went one batter into the ninth and allowed just one run and eight hits while fanning four.

Manhattanville added a tally in the third as John Bucci led off with a walk and later scored on a double-play ball. Delaware Valley got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the stanza as Pete O'Hara singled up the middle, moved to second on a ground out and scored on Dan Hrubos' RBI double to left field.

The Valiants notched their final runs in the seventh and ninth innings. In the seventh, Bobby Guerra drew a bases loaded walk that brought home Nardozzi, while Nick Euvino had an RBI single in the ninth.

O'Hara had three of the Aggies' nine hits as he went 3-for-5 on the afternoon. Cory Weingart also had a multiple-hit showing as he went 2-for-4. Jim Calabrese went six-plus innings on the mound and took the loss.
