Saints Drop Doubleheader to PAC-Leading Westminster

(NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) - The Thomas More College baseball team dropped both games of a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader to conference leader Westminster College today (Saturday, April 14, 2012) at Westminster Field in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.  The Titans won game one, 5-4, and the nightcap, 6-1.

With the sweep, the Saints fall to 17-10 overall and 7-7 in the PAC, while the Titans improve to 19-8 overall and 10-1 in the PAC.

In the first game of the day, Westminster scored one the first, one in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth, while holding Thomas More to only four runs in the sixth for the 5-4 victory.

On the mound, junior David Etscheid (Union, Ky./Ryle) suffered the loss as he pitched all six innings and gave up five runs (all earned) on 13 hits and struck out five.

Senior first baseman Andrew Thole (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) led the Saints at the plate as he was three-for-four with a double and a run scored.

In the nightcap, the Titans plated three runs in the third, one in the fourth and two in the sixth and Thomas More scored one run in the fourth as Westminster completed the sweep with the 6-1 victory.

At the plate, four Saints had one hit each in the game.

Freshman pitcher Tim Baldrick (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) suffered the loss on the mound as he pitched four innings and gave up four runs (all earned) on six hits and struck out one.

Thomas More and Westminster will close out the three-game series tomorrow
