DOVER, Del. – Morgan Rupp drove in four runs and hit his team-leading sixth home run of the season as the Wesley College baseball team defeated Washington College, 8-3, on Tuesday night at Schutte Park. The Wolverines are now 27-12 on the season while the Shoremen fall to 24-10.

Prior to the game, head coach Bret Underwood and Wesley College honored seniors, Rob Benedict, DJ Keckler, Geoff Kimmel, Greg McKee, Bryan Reshetar and Casey Rothwell.

After allowing two runs in the top of the first, Wesley was quick to respond as Rupp's two-run shot carried over the fence in centerfield.  His round-tripper scored Jon Carlson, who walked just before.

Starting pitcher Jeff Cochran also settled down after the first inning and did not allow a run in his final four innings of work to get his third win of the season.

The Wolverines were able to tack the lead in the bottom of the fifth on Rupp's RBI single up the middle.  Scoring on the play was Rob Benedict who walked to lead off the inning before stealing second and third.

Benedict would help Wesley tack on another run in the sixth with an RBI single to right field which scored Matt Robles.

Now with a two-run cushion through six, Steve Perone lifted a sacrifice fly to center field in the seventh to score another.  In their final at bat, the Wolverines scored another three runs on a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly by Rupp and an RBI single by Geoff Kimmel.

Kimmel continued his hot hitting after earning d3baseball.com Team of the Week honors by going 4-for-5 with an RBI.

Earning the hold for Wesley was Andrew Cooper who allowed just two hits in two innings while Jordan Lozzi struck out four batters in the eighth and ninth innings.

Wesley returns to action on Wednesday, April 25, when it takes on Arcadia in a 7 pm first pitch at Frawley Stadium, home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks minor league baseball team, in Wilmington, Del.
