Franklin bounces back in 2nd game to gain split with HCAC foe Bluffton

FRANKLIN, Ind. – Franklin College fell to visiting Bluffton 8-3 in the opener, but came back to win the second contest 7-4 and gain a split of today's baseball doubleheader at McDowell Field.

The Grizzlies improved to 15-7 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and 27-9 overall while the Beavers moved to 10-12 in the league and 17-20.

Franklin remains in third place in the HCAC standings, trailing leader Anderson by two games, heading into the final week of conference regular season play.

Junior catcher Jesse Wilson drove in three runs and junior first baseman Jake Houston had two RBIs to lead FC in the second-game victory. The Grizzlies collected 10 hits to Bluffton's eight.

Senior pitcher Shawn Mattingly came on in relief in the fourth inning and worked the remaining 5-2/3 innings. He gave up just one hit and struck out two batters, improving to 5-3.
