Adrian Hits 30 Wins for Fifth Straight Season

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College baseball team reached the 30-win plateau for the fifth straight season on Wednesday night with a 15-4 win over Ohio Northern at Nicolay Field under the lights. The Bulldogs improve to 30-6 overall and also are now 13-0 at home this season. In addition, Adrian won for the 13th straight time by pounding out 13 hits against eight Polar Bear hurlers.

Sam Fischer had a big night in the leadoff spot going 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple. He also drove in two runs and scored twice. Mitch Stefanski tripled and singled in four at-bats with two runs scored and an RBI. The Bulldogs trailed 3-2 heading into the fifth inning and scored three times to take a 5-3 lead. Justin Good, ONU's third pitcher of the game, took the loss going two innings and allowing three walks and three earned runs.

Adrian's pitcher of record was Sean Hartman who was the third pitcher of the game for the Bulldogs. He worked 3.2 innings and allowed one earned run with a walk and two strikeouts. Hartman improved to 2-0 on the mound and threw 46 pitches. Eric Sims got the start and threw two innings allowing five hits and two earned runs. Craig Steadman went 1.1 innings and faced seven batters. Josh Richardson worked a perfect eighth and Lucas Willitzer wrapped it up with a perfect ninth. In total, 13 hurlers were used and 341 pitches were thrown. Ohio Northern threw 220 of those pitches falling to 14-22 overall.

Adrian will get the day off on Thursday before taking the field on Friday for a doubleheader against Trine. First pitch is set for 2 PM and the 2012 seniors will be honored in between games.
