Wildcats split opening weekend doubleheader

Sophomore transfer pitcher Josh Lang was outstanding in game one of LC's doubleheader split with Texas College, as he went 60 strong innings, where he threw just 70 pitches and gave up 3 hits and struck out 4 in a 4-0 win. 

Jake Hillman, who started at DH on Saturday, came up with a huge 2-RBI double in the bottom of the 2nd inning, He later came around to score on an Adam Broussard single in the same frame. 

Cole Bagbey scored what would be the final run of the contest in the 2nd after he singled, stole second, and wa sdriven home by junior short stop Nic Cole

Taylor Beavers came into the game to shut the door in the 9th inning, as the Wildcats took teh first game of the doubleheader while Wildcat pitchers faced only 27 batters.

The second game saw LC fall behind 4-0 early on before clawing back to carry a 6-5 lead into the 9th inning.

The Wildcats scored 3 huge runs in the 7th inning, led by William Currier driving home Mark Riendeau on a single to right, followed by Kyle Feazell plating Currier on an RBI double immediately after. 

LC would get a go-ahead run in the bottom of the 8th, as a Bagbey stolen base once again set up a scoring opportunity, as Cary Myers would hit a sac fly to right field to drive in Bagbey. 

The Wildcats were unable to hold the lead in the 9th, however, as Texas College scored 3 runs in the top of the final frame to take the 8-6 win. 

The Wildcats will now travel to Mckinney, Tx. for a three day weekend of baseball beginning with Austin College on Friday February 2 at 2:30 p.m.
