VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Senior right-hander Andrew Levy pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and junior shortstop Ken O'Neill went 2-for-4 with three RBIs as the No. 9 Salisbury University baseball team shutout Virginia Wesleyan College, 9-0, on Tuesday.

Levy (1-0) stuck out four and walked none to lead Salisbury (3-0) to a season sweep of Virginia Wesleyan (2-4). Junior Quinn Griffith had a game-high three hits, including a double, pacing five players with at least two hits. Juniors Bill Root and Johnny Schiotis and sophomore Austin Barefoot chipped in with two RBIs apiece.

SU took a 2-0 lead in the second on a two-run single to left-center field by Root with two outs, scoring Schiotis and Evan Graci. The Gulls added two more in the third on RBI singles from O'Neill and Barefoot, both with no outs. After Barefoot knocked in another run in the fifth with a base hit, Salisbury made it 8-0 in the sixth on a two-run single up the middle by O'Neill, plating Kyle Hayman and Nick Gentry prior to Wes Carmichael hitting Schiotis to score O'Neill from third.

Schiotis singled home Graci with two outs in the eighth for the final margin.

Senior righty Danny Druzgala threw 1 1/3 innings, allowing his first hit and walk in three outings this season, but fanned two.

Alex Tucci (0-1), the first of four Marlins' pitchers on the day, took the loss, lasting 5 1/3 innings. He surrendered nine hits and five runs (three earned), while walking three and striking out four.

Kenneth Belgrave and Scott Montgomery picked up hits for Virginia Wesleyan.
