Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team saw a late lead slip away and could not recover from Trinity's six-run tenth inning in a 12-6 loss to the Tigers Tuesday night in Belton. The loss drops the Cru to 2-3 on the season. Trinity improves to 6-1 on the year with the victory.

UMHB opened up a 6-3 lead on a run-scoring error and Seth Mogavero's two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh. Trinity answered with three in the top of the eighth on Connor Moore's RBI single and a pair of bases loaded walks. Both teams put runners on base in the ninth, but could not push across a run. Trinity then took advantage of two crucial UMHB throwing errors to kick-start the six-run tenth inning as Will Donnan, Austin Singer, Ryan Schweers and Kelly Woodruff all drove in runs with two outs. The Cru scored two runs in the bottom of the first and also led 3-1 before Trinity battled back to tie the game each time.

Mogavero finished with three hits for UMHB and Chris Florack and Chase Burrow added two hits apiece. Danny Horstman took the loss after giving up three unearned runs in an inning of work. Moore, Kevin Francke and Will Donnan had two hits each for Trinity and Michael Bentz picked up the win with three and two-thirds innings of three-hit relief pitching.

The Cru will wrap up its season opening home stand with a three-game series against U.T.-Tyler this weekend. The two teams will play a 4:00 PM single game on Friday before closing out the weekend with a 1:00 PM doubleheader on Saturday.
