Presentation College Baseball Opens 2013 With A Spilt In Minneapolis

Head Coach Jesse Eikum and his Presentation College Saints began the 2013 baseball season with a "twin bill" in Mall of America Field, Thursday 2/21/13. The Saints taking on Bethel Univeristy. PC got a combined strong pitching performance in the first game, coming away with a 1-0 shutout victory. Senior Tyson Paulson got the start for the PC. He allowed 4 hits in 5 innings of work. He struck out 4 and walked a batter. Freshman Dylan Segula came on to close things out. He tossed the final 2 frames, retiring all 6 batters he faced. Junior Chad Ellingson drove in the only run of the game when he singled in the top of the 6th to score Segula.

Game 2 saw the Saints grab the lead in the top of the 1st inning. Ellingson again with an RBI single that scored Segula. A Paulson fielder's choice plated Freshman CJ Wienhoff for a 2-0 lead. The Royals would tie things in the bottom of the 2nd. Nick Anderson drove in Ryan Hangartner with an RBI single off Ellingson who got the start. The Saints responded with 3 runs if the top of the 4th. Freshman Drew Sanders plated Freshman Dylan Barela and Senior Heath Giedt with an RBI single to right center. A passed ball would allow Junior Kyle McLean to cross the plate for a 5-2 lead. But the Royals would score 5 unanswered runs. The big blow, an Austin Hanson 2 run double off Segula that snapped a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the 6th and gave Bethel the split of the two games, 7-5
