Three Tommie relievers combined to throw four shutout innings and No. 2-ranked St. Thomas rallied from a 4-3 deficit to post a 6-4 win in game two and a split of Thursday's late Metrodome doubleheader against No. 11-ranked UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks (1-1) won game one 4-2.

A ball lost in the Metrodome ceiling plated the go-ahead runs for UST in the top of the fifth inning. Sam Miller's two-out fly ball was lost in left and a diving attempt by the center fielder came up short as the Tommies (4-2) took a 6-4 lead.

UST stranded nine runners and had two others picked off but held on to win the nightcap. Reliever Jacob Nelson pitched 2 1-3 innings and allowed just one hit, a walk and a sacrifice fly to get the victory. Mark Ulrich retired the last out of the sixth inning, and Dylan Thomas worked the last inning for his first save of 2013. He allowed a leadoff double but set down the next three batters to secure the victory, recorded at 2:02 a.m.

Tim Kuzniar had a two-out single to tie the game in the fourth inning. Tyler Peterson had a two-run double in the first inning. Kuzniar, Miller and Jack Hogan each had two hits on the game.

Whitewater's Justin Lambert allowed five hits and two runs in a complete-game mound effort in game one. He got all the runs he needed with a three-run first inning keyed by hits from Jared Fon, Marty Herum and Samuel Keller. David Cladis reached base on his first five trips of the night via and error, a walk and three singles.
