Dylan Thomas allowed just two hits in a complete-game win and the No. 2-ranked Tommies rallied for a 2-1 victory over No. 16-ranked UW-LaCrosse in game one of Sunday's Metrodome baseball twinbill.

LaCrosse came back to win game two, 4-1. Transfer Joel Effertz allowed no earned runs and two hits in six innings with seven strikeouts, and Adam Cordova crushed a three-run homer run in the third inning for the Eagles (1-1).

The Tommies (5-3) split three Dome doubleheaders in the last seven days with top-25 ranked St. Scholastica, UW-Whitewater and UW-LaCrosse.

In game one, Thomas (one run, two hits, one walk, nine strikeouts) outdueled LaCrosse senior Tim Verthein (one earned run, seven hits, three walks, four strikeouts).

Junior Christiaan Wabers, a junior-varsity player in 2012, had an RBI single in his first Tommie varsity at-bat in the third inning. Wabers singled in the sixth and took second on a bobble in center field, then scored what proved to be the winning run on J.D. Dorgan's RBI double down the line. Dorgan and Wabers each had two hits.

Thomas allowed a two-out triple and RBI double in the first inning, but allowed just two base runners over the final six innings. LaCrosse got a leadoff walk in the seventh but that runners was doubled off on a fly out to right.

In game two, Tim Kuzniar had an RBI triple in the first inning. But Effertz set down 17 of his last 19. Wabers and Dorgan singled in the seventh inning to get the tying run to the plate but UST was unable to score off closer Skyler Debilzen.
