PORTLAND – Pacific broke out the bats and took advantage of seven Lewis & Clark errors to give Head Coach Greg Bradley his 300th career victory Saturday as the Boxers blew out the Pioneers 19-3 in Northwest Conference baseball action at the Huston Sports Complex.
 
The Boxers hammered out a season-high 19 hits, doing most of their damage in an 11-run second inning that saw 14 batters come to plate and Lewis & Clark commit three errors.  Pacific had six batters with two hits each and a three-RBI afternoon from Austin Gallagher (So., Lake Oswego, Ore.).
 
It was a long awaited 300th victory for Bradley, who first took over the Pacific program for the 1996 season.  Now in his 18th season, Bradley is the second longest tenured coach in Pacific baseball history, trailing only Hall of Famer Chuck Bafaro, whom Bradley began his Pacific career with as an assistant coach.
 
The Pacific bats helped make a winner out of Pacific ace Rob Dittrick (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii), who allowed just one unearned run on five hits while striking out four in six innings of work to improve to 1-2 on the season.
 
Scheduled as part of a doubleheader, the day's second game was suspended in the top of the second inning due to rain.  Lewis & Clark led the game 2-1.  The teams will resume the contest at noon on Sunday with the scheduled third game of the series to follow.
 
Pacific (2-11, 2-5 NWC) manufactured the game's first run in the top of the first.  Michael Arakaki (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii) led off the game with a double to left center field and scored on a ground out by Walker Olis (Fr., Burlington, Wash.).
 
Charlie Gaff (Fr., Stockton, Calif.) led off the 11-run second with a single and scored when Gallagher reached on the first of three Pioneers' errors in the frame.  A second error allowed Dan Jaffe (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) to lead the bases and Nick Tasaka (Sr., Hawaii Kai, Hawaii) followed with a two-run double to right center field that scored Gallagher and Logan Moen (Sr., Brier, Wash.). 
 
Arakaki and Donnie Bradley (So., Beaverton, Ore.) both struck out and Olis then walked to load the bases.  Trux French (Sr., Kennewick, Wash.) appeared to have grounded out to end the inning, but a third Lewis & Clark error cleared the bases and the inning continued.  Two batters later, Gallagher laced a two-run triple to center field in his second at-bat of the frame and Jaffe followed with a two-run homer to close scoring.
 
Pacific added three runs in the third when French doubled to score Bradley.  Moen followed with a single to center field to bring home French and Olis.
 
The Boxers were up 15-0 before the Pioneers (2-13, 0-4 NWC) tallied their first run in the home half of the third.  Corey Davis reached on an error to lead off the inning and later scored on a fielder's choice.
 
Pacific plated single runs in the fourth and seventh before the Pioneers added two in the seventh on a two-RBI single by Bradley Lezak.  Pacific converted two errors into two runs in the eighth, one scoring on a RBI single by Ben Duerr (Fr., Lebanon, Ore.).
 
A total of 13 players had the Boxers' 19 hits, led by two-hit afternoons from Bradley, Olis, Gaff, Moen, Tasaka and Connor Thompson (Fr., Reno, Nev.).
 
Ryan Strombom took the loss for Lewis & Clark, dropping to 0-5 on the season.  He allowed 10 run, two earned, on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work.  Gwoff Wertz and Davis had two hits apiece to lead the Pioneers.
