Dumas extends scoreless streak to 7.1 innings 

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Wheaton College baseball team, ranked no.3 overall in the latest D3baseball.com national poll, dropped a 3-0 decision to The College of Wooster on Sunday afternoon to conclude its spring break trip in Florida. 

Junior Kyle Koski (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) earned the win on seven innings, six hits, one walk and a game-high eight strikeouts. Classmate Jon Rothman (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) notched his first save of the season striking out one batter over the last two innings while yielding zero hits. 

Wheaton junior right-handed pitcher Nick Filloramo (Rochester, Mass./Old Rochester Regional) was dealt the loss over six innings of work, eight hits, two runs (one earned), no walks and seven punchouts. Filloramo posted his second-straight quality start allowing no more than three runs and pitching at least six innings. 

Freshman reliever Eric Dumas (Brookline, Mass./Brookline)extended his scoreless streak to seven-and-one thirds innings with one walk and zero hits in the ninth.

Junior Jarrod Mancine (Sarver, Pa./Freeport Area) gave the Fighting Scots a 1-0 lead in the third with a run-producing single through the right side of the infield. Senior Ryan Miner (Birmingham, Mich./Seaholm) led off the frame with a single to left field and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt to set up the scoring. 

In the fourth, Miner added to Wooster's advantage as he pulled an RBI single through the left side of the infield plating classmateJonathan Ray (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview Heights)

The Fighting Scots tacked on their final run in the seventh as juniorEddie Reese (Canfield, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) smacked an RBI ground rule double to left field driving in Mancine. 

Wheaton (5-4, 0-0 NEWMAC) returns home for its next contest against Suffolk University on Tuesday, March 19 at 3:30 p.m. The College of Wooster (4-3) takes on John Hopkins tomorrow in Fort Myers, Fla. at 4:00 p.m.
