San Antonio, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team fought back from an early deficit, but the Cru could not hold in a 5-2 loss to Trinity University Tuesday night in San Antonio. The loss drops UMHB to 9-12 on the season. The Tigers improve to 20-4 on the year with the victory.

Trinity took a 2-0 lead on Pat Hirschberg's two-run homer in the bottom of the first. Austin Greene's RBI single cut it to 2-1 in the top of the second and Drake Shukanes tied it with an RBI single in the top of the third inning. An RBI groundout scored an unearned run in the bottom of that inning to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead and Trinity added insurance runs in the fourth and seventh innings to put the game out of reach. Shukanes and Garrett Webb had two hits apiece in a seven-hit Cru attack. Ian Ekery took the loss for UMHB despite not giving up an earned run in three innings of work. Six Cru pitchers combined to limit Trinity to just six hits in the game.

UMHB will now return home to host Hardin-Simmons in a three-game American Southwest Conference West Division series this weekend. The two teams will face off in a 7:00 PM single game on Friday before closing out the series with a 1:00 PM doubleheader on Saturday at Red Murff Field.
