Greensboro Falls to St. Andrews 15-6

The Pride baseball team (12-14 overall) fell to St. Andrews (13-11) 15-6 on Wednesday afternoon. Greensboro jumped out to an early lead but were unable to keep up with the hot hitting Knights.

Greensboro got on the board first posting a run in the first. Aaron Navarro singled to left getting the inning going. James Feldmann singled to right advancing Navarro to third.Christian Snider walked to load up the bases. Matthew Parker walked bringing in Navarro for the early 1-0 lead.

However, St. Andrews responded by scoring one run in the first, tying the game at 1-1. The Knights extended the lead with two runs in the second, and a run in the third making it 4-1.

The Pride cut the lead in half pushing a run across in the fourth. Joshua Powell reached base on a bunt. Jon Krecicki reached base on an error by the third basemen movingKyle Schmidt to second. A passed ball by the catcher allowed both runners to move up a base. A Navarro ground out to third allowed Schmidt to score making it 4-2.

The Knights answered by scoring three runs in the fourth inning to make it 7-2. Greensboro again got on the board in the sixth inning. Kenny Graham singled to the shortstop and stole second.  Krecicki doubled to left field plating Graham making it 7-3. St. Andrews responded with a run in the bottom half pushing the lead to 8-3. The Pride erupted for three runs in the seventh inning.

Steven Pfeiffer led off getting hit by a pitch. Feldmann singled to left field moving Pfeiffer to second. Jimmy Pirro walked loading up the bases. Graham singled to short pushingTyler Rackley across making it 8-4. A wild pitch scored another run trimming the defecit to 8-5. Graham scored The Pride's last run of the game on an error to get within 8-6.

St. Andrews posted six runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to win the game 15-6. James Feldmann led the way with two hits. Four Pride players - Navarro, Parker, Graham, and Krecicki - recorded a run batted in.

Greensboro will get back into USA South play on the road Saturday with a doubleheader against North Carolina Wesleyan. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
