Bristol, RI --- Mike Pascarella (Milford, CT) recorded three hits, including two doubles, to send Roger Williams past WPI 5-1 in Tuesday's non-conference game at Paolino Field.  The Hawks outhit the Engineers eleven to two earning them their ninth overall win.  Roger Williams improves to 9-6, while WPI falls to 7-12 on the season.

It was a slow start with both teams scoreless until the bottom of the third when WPI's David Trujillo (Sutton, MA) plated the first run of the game on two RWU errors.  The lead was short-lived because John Oppenhimer (Westport, CT), Reid Nelson (Wallingford, CT) and Shawn Cariglio (Milford, CT) each posted hits to help the Hawks tie things up at 1-1 in the top of the fourth.

Tyler Campo's (Wrentham, MA) single put him in scoring position when Pascarella doubled down the right field line giving the Hawks the 2-1 go-ahead in the top of the fifth.  Roger Williams opened up their lead in the top of the seventh when a wild pitch sent Campo home making it 3-1.  Singles by Pascarella and Matt Jefferis (Cheshire, CT) resulted in a fourth run scored and an inning later Oppenhimer drew a bases loaded walk to push the lead to 5-1.

Sean Kelly (Shrewsbury, MA) and Anthony Capuano (Stoneham, MA) were walked in the bottom of the ninth giving the Engineers some hope, but three RWU strikeouts ended the game.

Freshman Capuano and sophomore John McGonagle (Medford, MA) posted the only hits for the Crimson and Gray.  Steve Petry (Worcester, MA) drove in the only Engineer RBI of the game.

RWU had nine pitchers combine on a two-hitter.  They combined to strikeout 15, including the first seven.  Freshman Kirby Sessums (Taunton, MA) earned his first win hauling for one inning and allowing no hits.  WPI's Sam Miraglia (West Babylon, NY) shouldered the loss surrendering 10 hits over 6.2 innings.

Roger Williams hits the road Friday to face Eastern Connecticut State.  WPI's Wednesday's game against Worcester State has been postponed for a later date.  The Crimson and Gray will return to action on Friday at NEWMAC foe, Springfield.
