Late Baruch Rally Falls Short in 6-5 Loss to #9 Ramapo

The Baruch College Bearcats lost a 6-5 non-conference contest to #9-ranked Ramapo College on Thursday afternoon at the Bronx Community College Baseball Field.

The loss drops the Bearcats to 5-8 overall, while the Roadrunners from Ramapo College of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) continue their solid start to 11-1.

The Bearcats started off well by jumping out to a 3-0 lead.

Their scored their first run in the second inning.
John Yuksekolsingled and Philip Lopretedoubled for runners on second and third base. Eric Ulinohit a ground out RBI to score Yuksekol.

In the third inning,
Keith Ezerskyreached base on an infield error and Jasdeep Buttardoubled for runners on second and third base again. Nicholas Pomo-Romanhit an RBI ground out to score Ezersky and Angel Tejedafollowed up with another RBI ground out to score Buttar for the 3-0 lead.

The Roadrunners came back strong with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth for the 5-3 advantage. They added another insurance run in the eighth for a 6-3 lead,
which would prove crucial in the end.

The Bearcats rallied and got as close as 6-5 with two runs in their bottom half of the eight inning. Yuksekol hit a sacrifice fly RBI to score Buttar and Pomo-Roman scored on an infielder's choice.

Unfortunately, the Bearcats could not score more runs and suffered a very competitive 6-5 loss to the nationally-ranked program from Mahwah, New Jersey.

The baseball team will return to action on Saturday, March 30, with a 12:00 pm CUNYAC home doubleheader against The City College of New York (CCNY).

The two teams were initially scheduled to play at Silver Lake Park in Harrison, New York, but the team must re-locate the game to an alternate field. The exact location will be announced on Friday afternoon or call 646-312-5048.
