LC Baseball Rallies in Seventh before falling 4-3 to H-SC

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team struggled on Thursday, dropping a tough contest to Hampden-Sydney College 4-3 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

Charlie Thieringer made his first start of the year for the Hornets, giving up three Tiger runs in the second inning before settling in to pitch 5 1/3 innings of four-run ball. The sophomore struck out two and allowed six hits.

LC rallied in the seventh inning down 4-0. Jake Tanner led off the inning with a single and an out later Lincoln Evans reached on an error. Michael Kenah continued his clutch hitting with a two-RBI double. Brock Shiflett doubled in the next at bat to bring home Kenah and cut the lead to 4-3.

Matt Matthews pitched a perfect 2 2/3 innings for the Hornets to end the game, striking out one.

Dan Savage, Dustin Arrowood, and Shiflett had two hits each for Lynchburg.

Christian Hamlett had three RBI for Hampden-Sydney (12-12-1/5-4).

Lynchburg (14-11/4-5) returns home Saturday for a doubleheader against Eastern Mennonite University (13-10/3-3). First pitch for game one is scheduled at noon.
