(DELAWARE, Ohio) - The Thomas More College baseball team fell, 5-4, to Ohio Wesleyan University today (Thursday, March 28, 2013) in a non-conference game Littick Field in Delaware, Ohio.

With the win, the Battling Bishops improve to 5-4 on the season and the Saints fall to 8-5.

Ohio Wesleyan scored one in the fourth, two in the fifth, one in the seventh and one in the eighth and held Thomas More to one in the second, one in the fifth, one in the seventh and one in the eighth for the 5-4 victory.

Junior third baseman Travis Miller (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) led the team at the plate as he was two-for-three on the day. Freshman first baseman Donovan Pogue (Sharonville, Ohio/St. Xavier), junior left fielder Jason Handley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) and sophomore catcher Brad Popham (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) each had a home run in the game.

The Saints staffed the game on the mound as six different pitchers pitched at least one inning. Sophomore Tyler Jones (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun) pitched two scoreless innings and gave up four hits, while striking out one and freshman Zach Fardo (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) pitched one scoreless inning and gave up no hits. Sophomore Ethan Fleming (Heath, Ohio/Heath) suffered the loss as he pitched the eighth inning and gave up one run (earned) on two hits and struck out one.

Thomas More returns to action tomorrow (Friday, March 29) when it opens a three-game Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) series with Westminster College with a single nine inning game at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
