RAMAPO FALLS TO WPU

Mahwah, NJ:  The #5 Ramapo College baseball team fell to NJAC rival William Paterson University today, 7-2, at Jeff Maund Memorial Field. The Roadrunners' win streak stops at 12 as they now stand at 14-2 overall, 2-1 in the NJAC while the Pioneers improve to 13-5 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

WPU scored three runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 6-0 lead. The top of the third inning was highlighted by Rich Guillod's two run home run to put WPU on top, 2-0. In the fourth, the Pioneers scored three runs all with two outs. Scott Patszynski ripped a double to center field, plating Tyler Graguilo before they got run scoring singles from Rich Guillod and Vin Fondacaro.

Ramapo scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.  Joe Venturino hit a sac fly to center field as Christian Spurr tagged up and scored. In the fifth, Anthony Vinci drew a lead off walk. Following an out, Brandon Berger walked and Spurr ripped a single up the middle allowing Vinci to come around and score, cutting the WPU lead to 6-2.

WPU added one more run in the ninth to take a 7-2 lead. Ramapo could not score in the bottom half of the inning, as WPU came away with the 7-2 road victory.

Josh Jensen (3-1) struck out four and walked six in the win for the Pioneers in 6.0 innings of work. Frankie Colasante closed the game with two strikeouts and did not give up a hit in the final 3.0 innings of work.

Dan LaRocca (3-2) worked the first 3.2 innings for Ramapo as he scattered six hits and gave up five runs. Nick Cavanaugh and Jimmy Knight came in for relief. Cavanaugh worked one inning, giving up one run while Knight went 4.1 innings, striking out one and only giving up one hit. Spurr was the only Roadrunner to record a multi-hit game as he went 2-4 with one run scored and one RBI.

The Roadrunners and Pioneers will return to action tomorrow in Wayne, NJ at 3:30pm.
