Senior Dylan Thomas threw a seven-hit shutout in game two with six strikeouts as the No. 7-ranked Tommies closed out a sweep of visiting Augsburg in MIAC baseball play Thursday afternoon at Koch Diamond.

St. Thomas won 5-4 and 6-0 to extend its home-field winning streak to 28. The Toms had no errors on the day.

No. 7-ranked St. Thomas (14-4 overall, 2-0 MIAC) rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win the opener. UST left the bases loaded in the third and fourth innings, but a four-run fifth inning erased a 3-1 deficit. Steve Maher came on with the tying run at second and retired all four batters he faced to get the save. Tommy Danczyk allowed one run and struck out three in 2 2-3 innings of middle relief for the victory.

Jon Kinsel and Jack Hogan each had four hits on the day. Tyler Peterson's double tied the game at 3-3 in the opener, and a throwing error and Ryan Gerber's sacrifice fly pushed the lead to 5-3.

In game two, Gerber gunned down an Auggie runner at home plate trying to score from second on a two-out single. Thomas also got a bases-loaded strikeout to end a fifth-inning threat.  Kinsel had an RBI double in the third inning and a two-run single in the fourth inning.

Augsburg (12-6, 0-2) was hurt by a rash of errors in each game and allowed seven unearned runs on the day.

The Tommies play St. Mary's on Saturday. The games were moved from Winona to UST due to wet fields on the SMU campus. The Toms will be the vistor in each game.
