GREENVILLE, Pa. – Cody Northcott (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) picked up his fourth win on the mound as the Tomcats came away with a 4-3 victory over the Golden Tornadoes Saturday in game two of their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader.

With the win, the Tomcats improve to 12-9 overall and 6-1 in the PAC. The Golden Tornadoes fall to 7-13 overall and 2-6 in PAC play.

The Tomcats struck for the initial run of the ball game with one-out in the first. Senior left fielder Eric Steininger (West Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg) extended his hit streak to 21 games with a RBI-double that scored fellow senior Eric King (Butler, Pa./Butler). Senior Jarod Nanna (Johnstown, Pa./Conemaugh) flared a double inside the left-field line to score Steininger for a 2-0 Blue and Gold lead.

Geneva answered with a run in the top of the third. The Golden Tornadoes utilized an error by the third baseman to put a runner on base for Mike Jeffreys, who doubled to left center to make the score 2-1. Northcott escaped the jam with a fly out and a ground out and it was a 2-1 Thiel lead after two and a half innings.

The Tomcats added a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth and further increased their lead in the fifth when Nanna stroked a two-out RBI single to left to make it 4-1 Thiel. The Golden Tornadoes plated two runs off Northcott in the sixth, utilizing a sacrifice fly and a RBI-single to bridge the gap to 4-3.

After the Tomcats went down in order in the bottom of the sixth, Northcott returned to the mound for the seventh inning with Thiel clinging to a one run lead. Northcott struck out the leadoff hitter in the seventh for his fourth and final strikeout of the game. After surrendering a base hit and hitting a batter, Northcott again pitched out of trouble by getting the final two batters to fly out.

Northcott threw all seven innings for his second-straight complete game victory on the mound. He allowed three runs on ten hits with four Ks and one walk.

Offensively, five different Tomcats accounted for seven hits. King went two-for-two with two doubles and two runs scored, while Nanna went two-for-three with two RBIs, and Cody Trinch (Franklin, Pa./Franklin), Doug Farley (Linesville, Pa./Linesville) and Steininger each went one-for-three at the dish.
