Greensboro Drops Deciding Game to Methodist 6-4

The Pride baseball team (15-22, 8-16 USA South) fell to Methodist (17-18, 11-13 USA South) 6-4 on Sunday afternoon.  Greensboro led 4-1 going into the fifth before being unable to hold off Methodist down the stretch. The Pride bats exploded out of the gate with three runs on six hits in the first inning. Matt Irwin, Matthew Parker, and James Feldmann all singled to start the game off. Steven Pfeiffer and Christian Snider followed with RBI singles to take the early 3-0 lead. The Monarchs got on the board in the fourth with a run to make it 3-1. The Pride answered back in the fifth on a Pfeiffer fielder's choice making it 4-1. Methodist responded back in the bottom of the fifth with two runs to get within 4-3, and then added a run in the sixth tying the game 4-4. The Monarchs took their first lead of the game in the seventh with two runs win the game 6-4. Eight different hitters recorded a hit as The Pride and Monarchs had 11 hits apiece. Irwin, Feldmann, and York led the way with two hits. Pfeiffer had a game high three runs batted in. Greensboro will be back in action Thursday in Rocky Mount for the first round of the USA South tournament. Check back for more details when the brackets are released.
