FREDONIA, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz baseball team (12-13, 8-5 SUNYAC) fell in the finale of it's three-game series with State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponent SUNY Fredonia (15-7, 6-4 SUNYAC) Monday afternoon, 7-1. The loss snaps a six-game winning streak for the Hawks that stemmed back to their April 5 victory over SUNY Oswego.

Fredonia starter Sean Larson did not allow a run over seven innings of work, yielding just three hits and striking out three to earn the win. Senior starting pitcher Michael Pinnola (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) shouldered the loss on Monday, allowing four runs on three hits in one inning.

Fredonia opened the scoring with catcher Brian Sheehan's RBI single with one away in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded, right fielder Kenny Johnston singled to left to bring in another two Blue Devil runs. With the bases loaded once again, shortstop Erik Krohl flew out to center, which allowed first baseman Ian Gallagher to score. On the same play, Johnston was tagged out in a rundown to end the inning.

Neither team got on the board again until the bottom of the sixth. A two-out double by left fielder John Bennett plated a pair for Fredonia to improve the lead to six runs. Second baseman Conner Lorenzo knocked in Bennett in the next at bat for the seventh Blue Devil run. The Hawks got one back in the eighth on freshman second basemanMatt Dixon's (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) RBI groundout to first that scored sophomore right fielder Richard Guido (Ulster Park, N.Y./Kingston).

Senior left fielder Anthony Repetto (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) increased his hitting streak to 13 games with a 1-for-4 effort in the loss. Guido went 1-for-3 on the afternoon, scoring the only Hawk run.

Johnston led the Blue Devils in the win with a 3-for-4 afternoon. He knocked in two RBI and scored a run of his own. Lorenzo went 2-for-5 out of the leadoff spot with an RBI and a run scored, while Sheehan batted 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run.

The Hawks return to action tomorrow, April 16, when they play their fourth and fifth games in three days due to inclement weather over the past weekend. New Paltz travels to SUNY Oneonta for a doubleheader that is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
