GREENVILLE, Pa. – A RBI-single by the Jackets' Tim Chilcothe in the top of the eighth proved to be the game-winning hit as the Tomcats fell to Waynesburg 3-2 in eight innings Tuesday in Game 2 of a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader.

Play was dominated early by pitching and defense, as the two teams had a combined three hits through the first three innings.  Eric Steininger picked up Thiel's first hit in the bottom of the first inning, a single through the left side, and designated hitter Jarod Nanna followed with a single down the left field line, but the Tomcats could not score either runner in the inning.

The Tomcats put a pair of runners on base in the third inning, but again couldn't push a run across home plate.  With two outs, Cody Trinch singled up the middle. Dan Koller reached on an error, but both would again be stranded.

The Jackets finally got to Thiel starting pitcher Parker Meyers in the top of the fourth, as they strung together three singles and a RBI-double to plate the first two runs of the game.

Thiel tied the game at 2-2 in the home half of the fourth inning, as Nick Schiavoni singled into left field to lead off the inning. Trent Mosley followed with a single through the right side, and Trinch advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt. Koller lifted a ball to right field for the second out of the inning that allowed Schiavoni to score. Doug Farley singled through the left side to score Mosley to end the scoring for the Tomcats.

The Tomcats struggled to string together any offense from that point forward, as they managed just one hit after the fourth off of the Jackets' pitchers.

Trinch led Thiel at the plate, going 2-for-2.  Waynesburg held an 8-7 edge in hits on the afternoon, as Bobby Hartman and Tim Chilcothe each picked up a pair of hits for the Jackets.

The Tomcats return to action on Thursday when they travel to Hiram College for one nine-inning game at 4 p.m.
