GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Thiel College baseball team dropped game one of its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader with Waynesburg University, 6-4, Tuesday at Tomcat Park.

The Tomcats, who fell to 17-11 overall and 10-3 in the PAC, were paced by Doug Farley (Linesville, Pa./Linesville), Eric Steininger (West Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg) and Cody Trinch (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) with a RBI apiece. Junior Nick Schiavoni (Boiling Spring, Pa./Trinity) also led Thiel with a run scored.

Waynesburg jumped ahead 5-0 in top of the fourth inning, utilizing four hits and taking advantage of two Tomcat errors to manufacture their runs. But the Tomcats responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning when senior center fielder Farley doubled and later scored on senior left fielder Steininger's RBI single to left field. Steininger later scored on a passed ball by Waynesburg starting pitcher J. Jay Paskert to trim the Yellow Jacket lead to 5-2.

After the Yellow Jackets scored a single run off of Rossmiller in the fifth inning to take a 6-2 lead, the Tomcats came back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to get to within two at 6-4, but that was as close as they could get.

In the seventh, Schiavoni led off with a double to the gap in right center, and later scored on Trinch's double to left center field. A sacrifice fly by Farley accounted for the fourth and final run scored by the Tomcats.

Rossmiller took the loss on the mound for Thiel, throwing all seven innings and allowing three earned runs on eight hits while striking out one. Paskert improved to 5-3 on the mound for Waynesburg, throwing all seven innings, allowing three earned runs on eight hits and striking out one.

Thiel returns to action in game two of the doubleheader at Tomcat Park, scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
