Thomas More Falls, 6-4, to Saint Vincent on Senior Day

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College baseball team fell, 6-4, to Saint Vincent College today (Sunday, April 28, 2013) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Senior Day at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Bearcats improve to 16-15 overall and 12-7 in the PAC and the Saints fall to 24-12 overall and 14-7 in the PAC.

Saint Vincent scored one run in the second, one in the sixth, one in the seventh and three in the eighth and held Thomas More to two runs in the fourth and fifth innings and for the 6-4 victory.

Sophomore first baseman Craig Hyson (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) led the Saints at the plate as he was three-for-four with a double and two runs batted-in and junior left fielder Jason Handley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was two-for-four with a triple.

On the mound, senior pitcher Grant Lewis (Mason, Ohio/Mason) had a no-decision as he started and pitched six innings giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits and struck out two. Senior pitcher David Etscheid (Union, Ky./Ryle) suffered the loss as he pitched three innings of relief and gave up four runs (all earned) on four hits and struck out three.

Prior to the game the Saints honored senior Lewis, Etscheid, infielder Brock Copeland (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights), outfielder Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic), pitcher Mike Hager (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills), infielder David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City), outfielder Brandon Nutini (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Catholic) and pitcher Paul Uhl (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) who were playing their final regular season home game at Thomas More Field.

Thomas More returns to action on Friday (May 3) when it travels to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to open a three-game PAC series with Geneva College with a single nine-inning game. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
